It took a really long time, but Puss is almost comfortable with the "boys" now. Every once in a while they will jump her, and at times she's rather nasty to them. But in general she ignores them (she keeps a watchful eye on them above), and recently I've seen her touch noses with Simba a couple of times with no growling. As it turns out, Puss hadn't lost any weight, she'd actually gained a bit more! She continues to do very well, eating pretty good. She waits outside the bathroom where she's fed in the mornings and meows quite loudly for food the minute I step out of the bedroom, even though she knows that it takes me a few minutes. Then she generally goes to sleep until the afternoon, like today, but sometimes she wants to eat around noon. She's even using the litterbox on a regular basis again, but that could change at any time. She just laid there purring when I gave her fluids on Monday, which is highly unusual. I'd hoped that maybe she's getting used to it, but no such luck: she was not happy with her fluids session yesterday. We're doing every other day, but I don't think it will be all that long before we'll be doing it every day. Her T4 was lower when rechecked, but still higher than it's been in the past. She's been more vocal then she used to be, very demanding for food, but no night howling yet. All in all she's probably doing the best since her diagnosis. Her weight is good, her appetite is generally good, and she can actually jump up about counter height. In the back of my mind I'm hoping to make it to her 18th birthday and two year CRF anniversary, but I try not to think about that too much. I know how quickly things can change. It's been hard the last couple of years, never knowing when we can get away, whether or not Puss (or Cleo in the past) will be okay. |
