In the beginning of March, Cleo started having some diarrhea. At first it wasn't too bad, about once a week. Then it started to be twice a week. By the week of the 20th, it was every day. I took her to the vet, because obviously something was wrong and to tell the truth, I was coming to the end of my rope cleaning up after her. Most of the time she wasn't making it to the litter box, and it was in two to three places. I lost in one day, screaming and yelling. Poor Cleo, she was so scared and I felt so terrible. I also mentioned to the vet that her fur seemed a little rougher, and she was just ever so slightly more lethargic. She no longer wanted to play with Meowie Wowie. We put her on Flagyl (Metronidazole). It took several days, but the diarrhea cleared up and Cleo seemed back to her old self. Flagyl is supposedly very bitter, and the vet was amazed that Cleo actually ate her food with the Flagyl in it. PussPuss has had another UTI, at least I think so, even though the culture showed no bacteria. I know from personal experience with UTIs that this doesn't necessarily mean she didn't have an infection. This time I put the Clavamox in her food, since she's now eating canned food quite well. She's using the litter box sometimes but sometimes not, which is very frustrating. I've put down the puppy training pads, which she avoids like the plague but sometimes she just goes in new places. |
