Puss Goes to the Vet

Puss goes to the vet to have normal bloodwork done:

BUN 63
Creatinine 4.89
Phosphorus 5.91

Her BUN is pretty normal, but the Creatinine has creeped up and her Phosphorus is also creeping up. I'm told, though, that Creatinine isn't linear — that a jump from 2 to 3 isn't as bad as a jump from 4 to 5, which is what we're seeing in Puss.

However, I want to get her Phosphorus under control. Even though it's within normal range, the recommendation on the CRF list is to keep it around 4, which requires Phosphorus binders. My vet doesn't want to use Phosphorus binders. Otherwise she seems quite healthy, at 8 lbs.

Today is also a momentous day: we adopt two kittens from our friends. They had asked us a long time ago, but I said no, I couldn't take any with Cleo so ill. I find a certain synchronicity in this now, though: I feel as though I am meant to nurture new lives as Cleo's ended. Plus, the mother is a Calico.

My heart feels as though a hole has been mended.
