A Half Pound Gain!
Cleo gets her fluids
What a difference a day makes! Yesterday I was in despair and tears, thinking that I was prolonging Cleo's suffering so that I might have more time with her.
Today I took her to the vet — and the news was good! She's gained half a pound in five days. This from a cat who has been steadily losing weight for a year.
What the vet didn't tell me was that the first steroid shot was expected to last for four to seven days (she told me it would last a week). She's very pleased, and we don't have to go back for three weeks (barring any other problems).
Unfortunately, fluids didn't go any smoother today. She's really fighting them now, but I'm taking that as a sign that she's feeling better. She's eating like a little piggy, too. Apparently the steroids increase appetite, too, so she's off the cypro.
