I Hit a Blood Vessel

Fluids from hell. The rescue remedy doesn't seem to be helping Cleo that much. She kept yowling and growling before I ever did anything again, and managed to pull the needle out again.

I got her back and tried again. It seemed okay at first, then all of the sudden I felt some liquid. Then I saw blood! I guess I must have hit a blood vessel, but I felt so bad. What am I doing to this poor cat? I felt horrible, and stopped it even though we hadn't got quite halfway through. I feel like a monster. I'll try again this evening when Lloyd gets home. The problem is I don't know what I'm doing — even when I get it right, I don't know what the difference between that time and a time that I get it wrong.

Someone on the CRF support list keeps toting the benefits of Dr. Goodpet's digestive enzymes. I wanted to try it, and their Website said the Whole Foods in San Antonio carries it, so I took a trip to Whole Foods. Didn't find Dr. Goodpet's, but I did find Pet Authority Digestive Tract Conditioner. Ingredients: filtered spring water, lactobacillus acidolphilus cultures, yucca, cranberry juice concentrate, taurine & Vitamin E.

So I've started Cleo on that today. I thought she'd be really put off by it — it's a liquid — but she didn't seem to mind it at all. I started with a half dose; two teaspoons mixed in with her food.

I ended up not giving Cleo the rest of her fluids tonight. I figured one day isn't going to kill her. We both needed a rest from them.
