What's
the deal with Phosphorus?

It is recommended by the vet associated with the CRF list that you keep your cat's Phosphorus levels to 4, even though that's actually at the low end of the normal range. This is done by giving a Phosphorus binder with food. Many vets are not aware of this recommendation, and they will often resist the suggestion when brought up. I urge you to try to persuade your vet. I have found keeping Puss's Phosphorus levels down helps her feel much better. Often a high Phosphorus level will cause BUN and Creatinine to increase rapidly. |
