A Tale of Two Kittens

{short description of image}

We did some hoops this morning. They jump up on the chairs as soon as we move them into the room, before we hold up a hoop. Even Gizmo has gotten over his fear of the hoop and jumps with joy now.

Every once in a while we get them to jump through together, but it's a real catch-as-catch-can sort of thing. I'm still trying to figure out how to actually train that, but they get so much enjoyment out of doing hoops, I don't want to frustrate them.

I played with them this evening, but I guess I didn't give them a long enough playtime, because Simba began to play rough with Gizmo afterwards. Gizmo was hissing again, so I knew he wasn't happy.

This time I immediately got out the mats, and Gizmo came right over and sat down. I called Simba, and he came over and sat down, too. I continued to have them come to me, then go back to their mats a few times.

There was no more problems the rest of the night. They both curled up on the couch and slept peacefully the rest of the night.

Clicker training is more than just stupid parlor tricks; it's downright useful.
