I have never been blessed with overly-smart cats. Not that mine are dumb, mind you, but they don't open doors — or even cabinets, for that fact. The other day I heard a cat howling outside.

I went out to investigate, and there both Simba and Gizmo were — lying in their kennel, while some strange cat howled at them from the bushes.

Gizmo often likes to hang out in the kennel, even after dark. The other night I thought they were both in, so I closed the window that has their cat door in it. And a couple of seconds later I heard some frantic scratching at the window — sure enough, I'd locked poor Gizmo out!
