Salmon Balls

Gizmo seems to like these Salmon Balls. I just freeze them, and put a couple in their bowls frozen. At some point they disappear.

Ingredients

  • ½ package cream cheese
  • 1 can salmon (sardines, tuna, or mackerel may be substituted)
  • 1 teaspoon parsley

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients together.

  • Form into small balls, about the size of a melon ball.

  • Place on a cookie sheet and freeze.

Tuna is not really the best thing for cats. Most cats in the wild do not fish. Tuna, nowadays, has high levels of pollutants and is highly addictive to cats. Too much tuna can deplete the cat's vitamin E, and can cause a very painful condition for the cat.

While Cleo was a tuna addict, and Puss would also lick the bowl, I have never purposely given Gizmo and Simba any tuna. They don't seem to know that they should want it.

Cream cheese is probably not the best thing for cats either, but a little bit now and then won't kill them. And these salmon balls, if they're a hit, could be a great way to get some medicine into a cat if that's ever necessary.

However, a little bit of cooked fish is healthy for cats. Salmon and sardines are often favorites.
