Simba: 3 years, 5 months |
|
This basket is Gizmo's. I have never once seen Simba lay in it obviously, until this day. He's done that a few times recently: lay in beds that he's never laid in before, and that only Gizmo has laid in. Usually it just happens once and he never lays in them again.
Simba is usually a laid back guy. In the mornings, I play with Gizmo before I feed the boys. Simba watches assuming, that is, he deigns to come in in the first place. But he does have his wild and crazy moments. He tends to be a bit spastic when he plays, but he does do some great jumps.
I bought this bed for the boys' birthday. Simba immediately claimed it as his. In fact, I bought a second one, hoping it could be Gizmo's; I think Gizmo's lain in it twice. You can buy these doughnut beds from Siamese Rescue. Not only will you get a bed your cats will most likely adore, the proceeds go to a worthy cause, too.
I never used to think of Simba as needy, the way Gizmo is, but the truth is he really does crave attention. In fact, when he wants some, he can be downright annoying. He's taken to getting up on the tv and trying to get down behind it lately. I finally figured out that that's the signal that he has some energy to burn off; play with him a little, and he'll leave the tv alone. He will often come into the bedroom in the morning and yowl. It's his signal that he wants a little loving. I'll lay on the bed with him, he'll give me some head butts, and eventually he'll flop down to be petted. And then he'll usually stay curled up on the bed for the rest of the day. He has also taken to laying on my pillow every once in a while at night again. As a kitten, the first few times he slept with us, he wrapped himself around my head. I'd never had a cat do that before, and while it was a bit uncomfortable, I have to admit that I liked it. And then he just stopped. Recently he's taken to walking up the bed, then flopping down so that he's pulling just a little of my hair under him (did I mention his hair fetish?). He doesn't do it very often, and he usually doesn't stay more than a few minutes, but he's just begun to do it more and more often. Petting Simba is like a contact sport; he likes to be sure he's got at least one paw on you at all times. He'll flop over to his side, facing you, and have his back paws touching your arm. Then he'll usually reach out a front paw for the other arm which admittedly makes it just a tad difficult to pet him, since I don't have three arms. |
